Necessity is the breeding grounds for invention. It’s not until you travel to a remote often “third world” country that you realize the resourcefulness of people when faced with the task of survival. When we arrived in Nepal in the spring of 2003 it was sensory overload. Every aspect of life was teetering between calm and chaotic. We loved people’s inventiveness with what little materials they had to solve life’s greater problems. These observations in cities and villages of Nepal inspired us to start experimenting with bamboo and it continues to inspire us today.
